An e-scooter is a vehicle used in public spaces. That makes liability and responsibility especially important.
In Austria, similar basic principles apply to e-scooters as to bicycles. Anyone participating in traffic is required to follow the rules and not endanger others. In the event of an accident, liability depends on the specific circumstances.
Above all, defensive riding is crucial. Adjusted speed, clear hand signals, and anticipatory behavior significantly reduce risk. Many accidents happen not because of technical defects, but due to misjudgments in traffic.
With a subscription model, at least the technical side is predictable. The scooter is regularly inspected, wear parts are replaced, and safety-relevant components are checked. This reduces the risk of technical issues.
Regardless of the model, the same applies: wear a helmet, use proper lighting, and slow down if you feel unsure. Responsibility is part of modern mobility.
